Medical Insurance

Health insurance is extremely important for everyone to have when living in the U.S. IH San Diego requires all students to have a medical plan while they are studying.

Many students have travel insurance plans from their own country. It is important to ensure that the plan includes the entire time of their stay in the U.S. and to check what the plan will take care of (e.g. emergencies only, regular doctor check-ups, dental etc.).

If students don’t have medical insurance from their home country, it can be purchased through IH San Diego either at the time of registration or once they arrive.

IH San Diego is pleased to offer its students the opportunity of purchasing medical insurance through “Guard.me”, Healthcare for International Students. Guard.me offers students emergency coverage for up to $2,000,000 for emergency injury or sickness, doctor visits, emergency ambulance, emergency dental care, accidental death and dismemberment, air evacuation, family transportation, and other important health-related aspects.

It is important to note that students may be required to pay for medical services at the time of the visit to urgent care. The school staff will assist the student by submitting a claim from/to Guard.me for reimbursement.
